Silverpeak, the mid-market technology specialist representing European growth businesses in M&A and financing transactions, acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Sico Technology GmbH on the sale of a 60% stake to Wietersdorfer Group.
Founded in 1981, Sico Technology is a global leader in processing silicon, quartz and ceramics for semiconductor manufacturing. Sico has around 120 employees across its sites in Austria (Bad Bleiberg and Wernberg), Singapore, and the United States.
Silverpeak advised Sico Technology and its shareholders throughout the transaction, drawing on deep industry expertise and an extensive network to successfully facilitate the deal and achieve an optimal outcome. Silverpeak’s guidance was instrumental in securing a partner that not only provided liquidity but also aligned with Sico’s growth strategy and long-term objectives.
Nina Dohrau, Managing Director of AWS Mittelstandsfonds, commented: “We have supported Sico Technology as a shareholder since 2015, helping it grow into a hidden champion in the semiconductor industry. We are delighted that the Wietersdorfer Group, a reliable partner from Carinthia, will continue the company’s development. This sale also marks the successful exit of the last investment of the AWS Mittelstandsfonds, founded in 2009.”
Walter Nadrag, CEO and founder of Sico Technology, said: “We selected the Silverpeak team because of their strong track record in the semiconductor industry and deep network of industry contacts. Silverpeak was able to distil the essence of our business and to communicate it to investors effectively, which ensured a competitive process, at the end of which we found the optimal partner for Sico.”
The Silverpeak team was led by Oliver Markl, Pietro Strada, Anne Belcredi and Fabian Probst. “We are delighted to have advised Sico in this significant transaction,” said Pietro Strada. “Leveraging our expertise in the semiconductor manufacturing sector, we were able to work with Sico during the process to complete a transaction that realises the investments made to date and, at the same time, supports their vision going forward. The partnership with Wietersdorfer Group positions Sico to maintain its impressive leadership in a sector that is pivotal to the future of innovation.”
